Chloë Grace Moretz movies: Hugo (2011)

Chloë Grace Moretz starred in the 2011 film Hugo, which was directed by Martin Scorsese. Based on the 2007 book The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick, the story was adapted for the screen by John Logan.

In the film, Chloë Grace Moretz stars alongside Asa Butterfield, Sacha Baron Cohen, Ben Kingsley, and Jude Law. The film centers around Carrie— a sheltered, shy outcast who has telekinetic powers and uses them for revenge on those who tease her at school. In an interview with ABC News, Chloë Grace Moretz said that she utilized method acting in this role in order to accentuate the darkness her character holds:

“I think because I was in so much love with Carrie as a main character, I wanted to put the audience inside her shoes, pretty much how the novel is told. So very much throughout the entire movie, you are with Carrie.”

In 2014, Carrie won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Horror Movie. Chloë Grace Moretz took home a Saturn Award that year for Best Young Actor/ Actress for her work in the hit Hollywood horror movie.

Chloë Grace Moretz movies: If I Stay (2014)

In 2014, Chloë Grace Moretz starred in the teen drama If I Stay, playing the main character Mia Hall. Chloë stars alongside Jamie Blackley, Mireille Enos, and Joshua Leonard in this film directed by R. J. Cutler. The movie is based on a 2009 novel of the same name by Gayle Forman.

After a near-death car accident, teen cellist Mia has an out-of-body experience that allows her spiritual self to see what is happening to her physical self. As she is about to undergo surgery, she sees all that she will be leaving behind should she not make it off the operating table.

In a 2014 interview with Collider, Chloë Grace Moretz said that she spent seven months training with a cello for two hours a day. While she didn’t fully learn the intricacies of playing the instrument, she said that traveling with the cello taught her the emotionality and passion that comes with being a cellist.

If I Stay won Choice Movie: Drama at the 2015 Teen Choice Awards. That same year, Chloë Grace Moretz took home the people’s choice award for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress and the Teen Choice Award for Choice Movie Actress: Drama.

Kayla allows Chloë Grace Moretz to show off her more fun and comical side, as the character is rather unpredictable and nothing like her other serious roles.

In an interview with Collider, Chloë Grace Moretz discussed acting while having to leave space for animated characters in the shot. She called the experience both fun and scary.
