Are you new to The Third Kingdom and the Futureverse ecosystem as a whole? Then this guide is for you! Here we'll take you through everything you need to know in order to play The Third Kingdom.
Welcome to The Third Kingdom, a strategy simulation game where you’ll build a production empire, restore the realm, and unlock up to 312,500,000 ROOT in Season 1 alone. As you progress through Cataclysm, the first season of the game, you’ll master various gameplay mechanics across different episodes:
Episode 1: Start your adventure by learning the core mechanics of building and managing your empire. Your primary goal is to reach the highest prestige level, generating the energy needed to harvest Mycelium and unlock ROOT in Episode 2.
Episode 2: This episode expands on the gameplay by introducing character recruitment, Mycelium harvesting, ROOT rewards, with further features to be unveiled.
In future Seasons, we plan to introduce new collections, new SurrealScapes, new game mechanics, and more ROOT rewards to be unlocked!
Getting set up to play The Third Kingdom is easy! To fully experience everything the game has to offer, including unlocking ROOT rewards, there are two mandatory steps plus two additional, optional steps you’ll need to take to fully realize the intended experience. These will ensure you can enjoy the complete gameplay loop and get the most out of your adventure. We’ve outlined the steps below:

In order to play The Third Kingdom, you'll need to create a FuturePass.
What is a FuturePass?
Your FuturePass is your key to the open metaverse. It serves as a unified platform for managing your identity, data, assets, permissions, and status across various apps, experiences, and worlds, ensuring a simpler and safer journey.
What can my FuturePass do?
Your FuturePass grants you access to navigate through the games, experiences, tools and utilities within the FuturePass ecosystem. You can buy, swap, and send tokens and collectibles, as well as buy tickets and build up your FutureScore by completing Quests.
How to Create a FuturePass
Navigate to https://futurepass.futureverse.app/

ℹ️ Please note: Signing up with a web3 wallet that doesn’t have a balance will require SMS verification.
Some sign-up options do not allow for full utility across FuturePass features at present.

Download the Launcher
The Third Kingdom is currently only compatible with desktop or laptop computers (mobile compatibility is not currently available), and is installed via the Futureverse Launcher. You can download the Futureverse Launcher here by clicking the “Install” button found on The Third Kingdom card.
Install The Third Kingdom
After downloading the Futureverse Launcher, simply click the Install button under The Third Kingdom to get started.
🖥️ System Requirements: The Third Kingdom requires a modern Windows PC or Mac with at least an Intel Core i5 processor, 8 GB RAM, a DirectX 11-compatible graphics card, and 10 GB of available storage.
Sign in with FuturePass
Now that you've got your FuturePass set up and The Third Kingdom installed, launch the game from the launcher and sign in using your FuturePass.
ℹ️ Please note: You need to use your Primary FuturePass (the one with your FutureScore) to log in and play the game. Don’t worry — you’ll still be able to access and use digital collectibles from combined wallets seamlessly.
You’re all set to play The Third Kingdom! For the full experience, including customizing your Origin Island, generating energy, and completing the full gameplay loop to unlock $ROOT, be sure to follow the optional steps below.
⛔️ Caution: Once you launch The Third Kingdom and set up your Origin Island, it will be locked to that biome. If you want to customize your biome in Episode 1, you must do this before starting your game.
ROOT is the native token of The Root Network, a blockchain network which The Third Kingdom utilizes.
You don't need to have ROOT or any other token to play The Third Kingdom, but if you're looking to get the most out of the game by using SurrealScapes and Prysms, you'll need some ROOT to purchase these.
You can purchase Prysms or SurrealScapes with ROOT. You will need native ROOT in your FuturePass on The Root Network. ROOT is currently tradable on the following exchanges:

If you purchase ERC20 ROOT tokens, you will need to bridge them to The Root Network to purchase Prysms or SurrealScapes on a marketplace. This can be done via the 'bridge' button located in the FuturePass dashboard under the 'Tokens' tab.
⛔️ Caution: To prevent token loss, never send your tokens directly between different blockchains. Always use the bridge for transfers between networks. Your FuturePass is not an ERC20 address and any ERC20 tokens sent to your 0xFffff address without using the bridge will be lost.

While you can play The Third Kingdom for free, in order to get the most out of the game you'll want to grab a few key collectibles.
Prysms
Prysms are a collection of land-harvesting devices, and your key to generating energy, Mycelium harvesting, and up to 312,500,000 ROOT and other rewards to be unlocked in Season 1 alone.
In Episode 1, you can deploy Prysms on Origin Island to boost the production rate of specific resources based on their traits, and generate energy each time you prestige. The more Prysms you deploy, the more energy you generate. By Episode 2, Prysms will use the energy to harvest Mycelium, which can be exchanged for ROOT.
Purchase on Tradeverse
The main place to purchase any Prysms is Tradeverse. You can find the Prysm collection on Tradeverse here. Simply login with your FuturePass and purchase your desired Prysm using the relevant cryptocurrency.
⛔️ Caution:
Don’t buy deployed Prysms, as you won’t be able to use them in the game. Deployed Prysms will have their metadata updated as soon as they are deployed by the owner, and this will be refreshed across all marketplaces as quickly as possible.
Avoid placing offers on Prysms; the seller could deploy them and then accept your offer.
Purchase via Prysm Vouchers
If you participated in the fair-value sale for Prysms, you will have received some Prysm Vouchers which can be redeemed for Prysms here. Prysm vouchers can also be bought or sold on Dexter.
If you don't have a Prysm, you won't be able to generate any energy within the game and thus won't be able to harvest Mycelium or ROOT.
SurrealScapes
SurrealScapes are a collection of resource-rich biomes, and your very own slice of The Third Kingdom. Together with Prysms, these collectibles unlock the gameplay and harvesting opportunities, shaped by users’ actions.
In Episode 1, you can apply the biome of the SurrealScapes you own to your Origin Island and stack them to increase the resource production rate and the number of Prysms you can deploy. More features will be introduced in future episodes, including increased Mycelium collection rate.
ℹ️ Please note: If you don't own any SurrealScapes, your Origin Island will default to Grasslands.
SurrealScapes Airdrop
Eligible holders of Cool Cats, Walker World, Doodles, Deadfellaz, and Pudgy Penguins collections have received unique SurrealScape biomes in an exclusive airdrop earlier this year. You can access yours by creating a FuturePass with the Ethereum wallet which holds your eligible collectible.
If you’re a holder of one of the collections above, head to FuturePass and log in with your Ethereum wallet to see if you received a unique SurrealScape biome!
Purchase on Tradeverse
The main place to purchase any SurrealScapes is Tradeverse. You can find the SurrealScapes collection on Tradeverse here. Simply login with your FuturePass and purchase your desired SurrealScape using the relevant cryptocurrency.
Other Collectibles
In Episode 2 of The Third Kingdom, additional collectibles from the Futureverse ecosystem and our partners will all play a role within The Third Kingdom.
These collectibles include: Flufs, Walkers, Buzzies, Seekers, Thingies, Party Bears, Cool Cats, Pudgy Penguins, Doodles, and Deadfellaz.
